A Fabulous, Delicious Weekend

Hi everyone!! Happy Tuesday and I hope you’re having a great week so far :)

I most definitely am – much better than last week – especially since coming off from such a fabulous, delicious weekend! And with that, let me go ahead and recap it for you all…

As I mentioned in Friday’s post – my sis, her boyfriend, Todd, and I had big plans to all get together to go out to our absolute fav place and get into some shenanigans ;) I’m so bummed I didn’t get many good pics from the night (too busy having fun!), but the evening started off at our place with a champagne toast courtesy from our Chandon shipment and some venison Todd cooked up – it was the actual venison that Todd hunted for while we were back in New York for Thanksgiving. Thoughts? This was my first time trying it and I admit, I wasn’t a huge fan. I’m a huge texture person, so while the flavor was good, the texture just wasn’t my cup of tea – a lil too “gamey” for me. I think for now I’ll stick with the cow…and the thought of eating bambi gets to me…sorry!

Oh and first, can’t leave out a pic of my outfit for the evening!

I have to say – knee high boots (my new ones!), a flowy tank, skinny jeans, and a leather jacket is at the top of my list for all time favorite outfits…

So after our champagne and venison tasting, it was off to B Street & Vine for some more fabulous good times and deliciousness.

Again, didn’t snap any pics except for some of the usual shenanigans that ensued…

in the cab…

And our foodie aftermath…

And the delicious wine that was consumed…****

Saturday was filled with more fabulousness in that I got to spend the day with the lovely Shanna. As always, we had great conversations together and I love spending time with her. I especially couldn’t wait to see her baby’s nursery and I am in love – so precious and it’s just absolutely perfect – hop on over to her blog to get a sneak peek of it in picture and video form :)

So, not only has she reignited the baby fever (that was already) in me, but she also sparked quite the baking and doggie bug in me, so much so that I was about to kidnap her fur baby (absolutely precious!) ;) And then we got into baking up quite the deliciousness…pecan pie cookies!!!

Given the fact that there are now only 4 cookies left in that container goes to show just how delicious they are. And the deliciousness and fun continued onto Starbucks where we got our fav Skinny Peppermint Mocha’s and a special treat of Gingerbread Biscotti that we shared – to which Shanna had the great idea of dipping it into our Mocha’s – amazing. I even had to get it again with Todd on Sunday – I’m hooked.

And Shanna and I had some interesting entertainment at Starbucks in the form of some strange men who kept looking over at us – I said to Shanna I felt like I was in the twilight zone, haha. Do you ever have that where everyone around you is just acting…weird? I blame it on the full moon that made it’s appearance that night ;)

And I have a feeling this delicious trend is going right through into this week since the adorable Ashley and I are doing a little barter.

So in exchange of me sending her a jar of this…

and a new jar of this…

That’s my jar that I made overnight oats in – highly recommended!!

…I’ll be getting some homemade cookies from her – can’t wait! They’re her hubby’s fav and I believe that any cookie that’s favored by the husband is a definite winner in my book ;)

Oh, and can’t forget, I found these beauties while in Mollie Stone’s getting the Biscoff…

I had never tried them before and I’m a definite fan – they’re just as delicious as you’d imagine

It was such a great weekend, a fabulous and delicious one indeed ;)

Hope you’re all having a great day and I’ll see you all back here soon! xo

Friday Lovin’

Happy TGIF everyone!!! First off, I want to say how much I enjoyed reading your “I Give Myself Permission To…” comments – it really warmed my heart and I loved hearing all that you give yourself permission to do. (And if you haven’t yet read the comments I suggest you do  – they’re a lovely read by some awesome ladies) ;)

And I think we should especially keep that “I Give Myself Permission To…” mentality in mind when there are days that are tough and we feel especially anxious or stressed – I think it’s ok to remind yourself to say “I Give Myself Permission To…relax, do a fun exercise class, grab a treat, get a pedicure, etc. Do whatever you need to do to bring happiness back into yourself/your life so that you can enjoy everyday to the fullest :)

I also want to say thank you so much for your feedback about my iPad conundrum on whether or not a) I should get one? and b) if they’re compatible for blogging? After reviewing your advice and especially great tips from the lovely Sarah and talking about it more with my parents, we decided that they’ll all get me gift cards to Best Buy. I think that’s the perfect option so that I can weigh my choices at the store and compare the iPad (they sell them now at Best Buy) to all the other laptops and see what will work best for me. I’ll definitely post about it once I make my purchase :)

Anyway, most of you follow me on twitter so I think a lot of you knew what I was up to…

So yeah, that’s pretty much the only excuse as to why you haven’t seen blog posts from me this whole week. And to be honest, I just needed a break and I’ve just had an emotional week – last weekend was an emotional one for me in regard to some personal stuff…

Although there was a bright light in that I had the most amazing day with my friend. You know those friendships where you can pick up right where you left off and like no time has passed? I think it’s been about a year since I’ve last seen her and every time I do it’s simply amazing. We actually mentioned to each other that we never feel any anxiety or nervousness upon seeing each other – I’m always so relaxed with this girl and am laughing non-stop with her. She’s got the most awesome sense of humor and personality – there was a reason why we’ve been such great friends since Kindergarten and Girl Scouts, we just have a great connection. I love her dearly and can’t wait for our next get together :)

And I think this photo speaks for itself of just how much we can have when we’re together…

My mom is simply awesome – she got her groove thing on at our wedding ;)

So back to the other parts of my weekend, it was an emotional one and it’s stuff I won’t discuss here, but will say that I just didn’t want to force a “happy go lucky” post when I wasn’t feeling in that mood at all this week. All I felt like doing was focusing on work and tackling my Christmas shopping – which always makes me happy – love buying gifts for my family and friends :) And, I’m happy to say I got every person done, yipeee! Except for Todd…still thinking about that one! Above all else – today is Friday, I woke up on the right side of the bed, I got a fun night planned for tonight, and I’m ready to make this weekend a better one.

So with that, it’s Friday and I love my Friday Lovin’ posts because it just simply gives me a chance to tell you all what I’ve been loving lately. Like more delicious holiday finds from Trader Joe’s…

Delicious is all I can say – trust me

And we got our mini Christmas trees decorated!!!

They look kinda funky, but cute, haha! We weren’t about to do real trees again this year – we did that once and it was such a mess (p.s. we have hardwood floors!). Don’t get me wrong, I do love them and our family got real trees throughout my childhood, but it’s just not for Todd and I. We have plans to buy a fake one once they go on sale after Xmas to use for next year!

More penguin decorations…

When you turn him on he changes colors from blue to green to yellow to red – too cute

Papa penguin

And these lovelies…

Here I have the shaft unfolded all the way up

It’s hard to see in the pics just how lovely these boots are – and super comfy!

I bought them last Saturday with my friend and I couldn’t pass them up. Regular price $150 and got them on sale for $112…I think that’s a pretty great deal, don’t cha think? ;)

And I’ve updated my blog theme to “Bouquet”…I can’t stop changing the look of my blog and I think I’m really loving this one…

And my lovely coworker got me on to this great new holiday feature for your blog – in the Settings you can choose “Show falling snow on my blog until January 4th” – in the pic above you can kind of see the white dots – that’s the snow. I love it – super cute and festive

And the other day, I got a shipment of this deliciousness…

That there on the left is a magnum bottle – whoo hoo!

In which I’ll be enjoying with these lovelies…

And then it’s off to here (our fav spot!) for some more shenanigans and good times :)

I’ll give you a hint as to what we’ll be indulging in…

Yes pleaseee!!! ;)

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend! I know I sure will…tomorrow I’m meeting up with this wonderful friend to bake up some delicious pecan pie cookies – never tried them before and I definitely can’t wait for our baking extravaganza :)

Questions:
Any fun plans for tonight or this weekend?!
If you shop at Trader Joe’s, what’s your favorite holiday treat right now? Mine is the Cookie Butter!!!

Happy November! And Weekend Recap Part 2

Happy first of November everyone!! Can you believe we only have 2 months left until the new year?! Seriously, where does the time go? I feel like this past year went by in warp speed – maybe it’s because I’m in a job I’m happy with and it being my first year here made the time go by fast? I don’t know, but either way time really has been flying by so fast. Not only that, but in this year I’ve battled 2 colds and I’m on my 3rd one right now. Seriously, in my entire lifetime this has never happened to me…I don’t know what’s going on with my immune system but I don’t like it! So, sorry if my posts this week will be on the less wordy side, but I’m not feeling too good and my head is in the clouds and foggy feeling, so blogging this week will be kept on the light side :)

I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one who loves their Uggs! I’m super excited to start wearing them during this winter season while running errands since they’re super comfortable and warm. And I’ll finally have happy feet this holiday season while running around Christmas shopping – sweet!

I’m loving this look with Uggs…(source)

And am undecided on this one…

Dress or shorts with Uggs…yay or nay??!!

So continuing from yesterday’s part 1 of our weekend recap, after my fun-filled day with my sister it was time to head home and pretty up for a night out on the town with the boys. To save some money at the wine bar, us girls started with a bottle of Mumm’s champagne (super good!) and the boys had their manly drink of Jack Daniel’s and Diet Coke (a fav of my daddy’s too ;) ). After some drinks and snacks of salami and cheese, the cab picked us up and took us to B Street and Vine. We don’t mess around and bellied up right to the bar…

Our hot dates…

And one with a background shot of the restaurant and bar…

This restaurant is known for the amazingly delicious bruschetta. They have about 15 different varieties and you get to choose 4 for $12, and since each one comes in 4 slices we had to do two rounds of this yumminess.

But first! You need something to wash it down with, so my sis and I went with a flight of Reisling – a nice tasting of my favorite wine!

Our fav was the Piesporter…super sweet, light, and refreshing…my kinda Reisling ;)

Ok, now on to the good stuff :)

Our #1 round of bruschetta…

From top to right – Salmon and Mascarpone; Brie with Apples; Prosciutto with Figs and  Mascarpone; Salami with Pesto

Round #2!!

From top to right – Mozzarella with Tomatoes and Basil; Spicy Hummus with Tomatoes and Avocado; Salami with Pesto (it was too good to not get again!), Olive Tapenande with Feta, Cucumbers and Tomatoes

Then shenanigans ensued – me drinking from the carafe…

And Todd being his silly, goofball self…

And my sister’s boyfriend knows the key to our hearts…he snapped these amazing photos of their desserts…I know what we’re getting the next time we’re there!!

Not sure what this was…some sort of chocolate amazingness

Cheesecake and Nutella Panini – um, yes please! We are so getting this next time!

Bread Pudding!

We wanted to continue the fun so we walked down a couple blocks to Central Park Bistro. They have my fav Champagne Cocktail and I knew my sis would love it!

More shenanigans ensued…

Champagne Earrings!! This is a trend we’re starting – remember the last time? Here’s a pic to jog your memory ;)

Sweet!

My sis got in on the fun too…and I spy a creeper in the background…

And I have to give a big thanks to my sis’s boyfriend for going behind the bar to snap these photos – yes we’re kinda a crazy bunch ;)

We only lasted one round of drinks before we thought it was best to head home. We had a sleepover over at my sister’s pad so we all got our comfies on and ordered North Beach Pizza, the best pizza around here. We got a large of half cheese and half meat combo – we killed it :)

Such a fun night and I hope we do it again soon! I know we already have November 13th on the books for us – it will be Todd’s Urbanathlon in San Francisco and then we’re going to celebrate afterwards – should be a blast!

Hope you’re all having a great start to your November and I may or may not see you back here tomorrow – depending on how I feel, ugh!

Questions:
Do feel like this year went by fast?
Have you kept it sick-free or are you catching colds like I am this year?
Do you like bruschetta? What’s your favorite combination? I have to say that salami one was my fav, and the apples with brie is a close second!

Friday Lovin’

Happy Friday and Halloween weekend everyone!! I hope you’re all having a great day so far and gearing up for the weekend…I know I am and can’t wait for it to begin! :)

Usually once Friday rolls around, the buzz in our office building starts dying down, people start leaving work early to get a head start on their weekend, emails stop trickling in, and my brain starts to turn off…which is why I love my Friday Lovin’ posts – a recap where I get to just tell you all about what I’ve been loving lately – not a bad way to enjoy a Friday ;)

* Delicious eats

Yesterday I went out to lunch with a wonderful coworker of mine to BJ’s Brewhouse. I have to admit the calorie counts for these menu items are quite frightening – even salads are in the 1,000 calorie range! So I went with one of my old standbys that deems fairly healthy and above all, super delicious. The Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps…

And dinner was another old standby, but is a winner and delicious every time…

Fried egg and turkey sandwich on sourdough bread with a laughing cow cheese spread

Along with some crunch factor…

Cheddar crackers with Sabra Roasted Pine Nut Hummus
Now after looking at my dinner I realized I didn’t have one veggie – told ya my taste buds change once fall/winter rolls around ;)

*Maca Powder

Have any of you heard of this?

I’ve been enjoying this in my smoothies ever since a lovely reader of mine (Hi Heather!) told me that Maca is great for fertility and balancing out your hormones, and it worked wonders for her. And Laury from The Fitness Dish shared with me as well that she used it all the time while they were trying to get pregnant. I hope it works jsut as well for me and I’m definitely going to get some recipes from Laury’s blog for more ways to use Maca! Thanks so much ladies!! xoxo

* Fro yo and Pedis

Tomorrow I have a fun filled day planned with my best friend and wonderful, beautiful sister…

We have big plans for lunch, pedicures, and fro yo!! Weeeeeee can’t wait! :)

* B Street and Vine

After our girlie day we’re then gonna let the boys come out and play with us and we’re going to the delicious and fun B Street and Vine – a wine bar with the most amazing and delicious bruschetta…

I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures to capture all the fun we’ll have ;)

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and if you’re celebrating Halloween, have fun and be safe out there! :)

Questions:
Any fun plans for Halloween? Are you dressing up and if so, as what?!
Have you tried Maca Powder before?
What are you looking forward to most this weekend?
